When Chopard invited me to create a series of paintings for the launch of their Queen of Kalahari Collection, I knew immediately that this project would be unlike anything I had done before. The collection is described as absolute purity and perfect color. Combining D color, the most beautiful, with grade F (Flawless) clarity, 342 carats represents an extremely rare size for a diamond of such absolute purity and perfect hue. Among the ensuing 23 diamonds, five weigh more than 20 carats and each of the main stone cuts – cushion, brilliant, heart, emerald and pear – is represented.
Chopard unveiled their Queen of collection at a private cocktail event in New York City, where the diamonds’ brilliance took center stage.
